Dover calls up by almost 15% in 2012

Dover is expecting 156 calls in 2012 bringing more than 250,000 to the port. This represents a 14.7% increase on 2011.

Of the 136 calls in Dover this year, 84 were full turnarounds, 14 partial, one embarkation only and 37 transit calls. Turnaround passengers will reach 138,656 and transit 84,095.

Dover Harbour Board, UK, is investing £10m (E11.2m) in refurbishing Cruise Terminal 1 and the covered walkway on Admiralty Pier.

The Port of Dover Cruise business is looking forward to a record year as we welcome over 300,000 passengers. Our full programme for 2010 includes the first visit of ‘Disney Magic’ which will sail from Dover on its five Northern European Capital cruises as well as first-time visits from three AIDA vessels - a result of our increasing partnership with this premium brand.

Dover is the second busiest cruiseport in the UK

 Early indications at the Port of Dover, Kent, are that it will be breaking all records with cruise bookings for 2010, according to Kate O’Hara, head of commercial and marketing.
