Sixteen cruiseships called Stornoway in 1991. In 2011 28 calls and over 8,000 passengers have been recorded by the port in the Outer Hebrides, UK. The last call of the season was from Hurtigruten’s Fram on September 24. Last year was the port’s busiest with a 30% growth on 2009 to 9,500 passengers.
Le Havre’s new cruise terminal closes turnaround season on a high note

On September 5 Costa Cruises’ Costa Magica called Le Havre’s new cruise terminal for the eleventh time this year, ending the 2011 series of turnarounds at the French port.
Aberdeen has 10 calls this year, compared to six (742 passengers) in 2010, says Brian Andrew, assistant harbour master Aberdeen Harbour Board.
Calls this year include Silversea Cruises’ Silver Explorer (ex Prince Albert II) and Silver Cloud, Hurtigruten’s Fram, Hapag-Lloyd’s Europa and Compagnie du Ponant’s Le Diamant.
Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux has invested E610,000 in upgrading its cruiseship berths as part of an overall renovation project, according to Catherine Leparmentier Dayot, Cruise Bordeaux.
Hammerfest Port Authority is partnering with the owner of one of its berths to invest E3m in an upgrade with completion expected in 2011, says port captain Gei Amundsen.
