The city of Hamburg saw last weekend devoted to the Carnival of Venice. The christening of the “MSC Magnifica” by ship’s ‘godmother’ Sophia Loren on 6 March was marked by a breath-taking Italian show. According to media reports, over 15 000 spectators followed the ceremony at Hamburg’s Landungsbrücken pier area.
Calls to the Firth of Forth, Scotland, numbered 64 carrying about 60,000 passengers in 2009 of which seven were turnarounds. For 2010 the forecast is for similar numbers.

The City of Aalborg has applied for and received a promise that it can raise a loan of 200 million kroner for building projects. The local authority has decided to spend 38 million kroner on the renovation of the waterfronts in Aalborg and Nørresundby.
The Queen of Norwegian Fjords, Hardangerfjord, will offer all the cruise passengers a renewed mega attraction with the majestic Hardanger Bridge, Norway’s longest suspension bridge. The bridge will measure 1.380 meters with 200 meter high bridge towers.
