Five ships will make inaugural calls to Liverpool this year. The first was Royal Caribbean International’s Vision of the Seas on June 16. She is being followed by AIDA Cruises’ AIDAblu, P&O Cruises’ Arcadia, Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth and TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 1.
With Queen Elizabeth (QE) and Queen Mary 2 (QM2) calling in the same week in September (8-15th), the City of Liverpool has decided to put on a ‘River Festival’ which includes fireworks, powerboat racing, tall ships and Royal Navy ships.
For QM2’s visit, images of Queen Mary’s history will be project onto the Cunard buildilng with the ship alongside the Three Graces. For QE there is a concert, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Lesley Garrett, for all the passengers at Liverpool Cathedral.
