Skjolden-Sognefjord is expecting 20 calls carrying 27,500 passengers in 2012 compared to 11 calls this year, according to Iren Vatne of Cruise Destination Skjolden-Sognefjord.
This year Holland America Line (HAL) and Crystal Crusies are calling the Norwegian port for the first time with Prinsendam and Crystal Serenity respectively. Also new to call are Phoenix Reisen’s Albatros and P&O Cruises’ Adonia.
Next year the port has its first call from ships of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd: Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Constellation and Celebrity Eclipse. HAL will be calling with Ryndam and Rotterdam. Also calling are P&O Cruises’ Ventura, Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth and Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ Ocean Countess.
A new 130m pier was ready for the 2010 summer season with changes to the waterfront continuing into this year with additional waterfront homes being constructed and the completion of a marina.
