The picturesque fishing village of Ullapool is one of the best deepwater natural harbours in the country, surrounded by untouched, traditional landscapes and steeped in over 200 years of history. Ullapool was recently voted one of the top ten places to visit in the United Kingdom, by the magazine Outdoor Fitness, described as an “outdoor paradise” with “Scandinavian twinkle in the Winter and Candian style adrenalin in the Summer”.

The modern pier now offers a 40m landing pontoon for visiting tender vessels, a purpose built covered marquee with seating and private toilet facilities.

There are a wide variety of excursions available to suit all tastes all within this area of unspoilt natural beauty.

Ullapool Harbour Trustees have invested in the facilities and services provided for Cruise Liners and it is now a destination of choice.

Ullapool receives two maiden calls this summer

Two of seven calls to Ullapool this year will be maiden visits: Phoenix Reisen’s Artania and KD Bereederburg’s Astor. Arion will be the first call of the season on May 11 and Hebridean Princess the last on October 5. In all about 2,200 passengers will visit the Scottish port.

Ullapool has been working to improve its share of the cruise market over the past four years. In 2010 it invested £100,000 in a dedicated cruise tender landing pontoon and in 2011 a reception marquee and luxury restrooms were added.

Inverewe Gardens and Measach Falls

This magnificent garden, created in 1862, is an oasis of exotic plants bursting with vibrant colour thanks which is coupled with a visit to the famous Falls of Measach at Corrieshalloch Gorge.

Measach Falls and Gruinard Bay

Spectacular Corrieshalloch Gorge, 60m deep, contains the Falls of Measach plunging 50m, viewed from the suspension bridge. Next Dundonell forest and the unspoit Gruinard Bay beaches.

Lochinver and Knockan Crag

Ancient, unique landscapes, where the rocks tell of oceans, deserts, volcanoes and ice sheets, at the Geopark visitor centre. Next the fishing village of Lochinver via the Assynt mountain ranges.

Loch Ness and Inverness
